The big news for Bollywood actor Ranveer Singh has been that he has got a much-needed break. One of the most powerful workers’ organizations in the Indian film industry, the Federation of Western India Cine Employees (FWICE), has officially rescinded the non-cooperation call it had raised against the actor with immediate effect. The choice is coming on the heels of days of controversy over the celebrated actor, Ranveer Singh, and his rumored exit from the much-anticipated movie, ‘Don 3’.
It was all because of Ranveer Singh’s association with Don 3. The actor was reportedly to be the lead in the movie and the project was already in the making. But, later came the news that Ranveer had left the film. The producers and other stakeholders reportedly suffered huge losses in the project after his departure.
This dispute led to a directive of not cooperating with the actor issued by FWICE. This led to the suggestion that those members of the organization who were affiliated to it should refrain from working together with Ranveer Singh on their professional projects. Beforehand, however, FWICE had made it clear that this was not a law, but rather a directive from FWICE.
The situation got a fresh twist when Ranveer Singh was reported to have issued a writ notice to FWICE against the action that was taken against him. After the development, various industry groups joined in to help alleviate the problem. According to reports, Producers Guild of India and Cine and TV Artistes’ Association, known as CINTAA, helped to facilitate talks between the two.
After multiple rounds of meetings and deliberations, FWICE has now decided to revoke its directive. The organization said that keeping harmony in the film industry is everybody’s responsibility and that dialogue is the best method of dispute resolution.
FWICE President B.N. Tiwari also weighed in on the development saying, however, that there were no winners and no losers in this situation. He said the film industry is like a family, and differences should be resolved in a way of communication, understanding, and respect.
The repeal of the directive has once again paved the way for Ranveer Singh to operate freely in the industry. The development is also being seen as a significant precedent for resolving industry disputes in a way that avoids unnecessary conflict, by mediation and through dialogue.
Now, it’s all about what’s in store for Don 3 and who will be heading the project in the end, and whether Ranveer Singh will go public with his explanation of the controversy in more detail.
As for now the non-cooperation directive has pulled Ranveer Singh’s name from the crossword and made it one of the biggest talking points in the Bollywood industry.
